Kavya & Sidharth – An Unforgettable PreWedding Outdoor Couple Photoshoot in Chennai

Every Couple photoshoot is unforgettable and memorable for us in some way or the other, but this couple shoot with Kavya & Sidharth was an experience that we or the couple can ever forget. When we started the planning for their pre wedding photoshoot, i was pretty sure we are going to have an amazing day and come back with lot of amazing pictures and memories, but little did i knew that it will become a day in our lives, that will be blogged or even narrated to friends and family. Am sure, when Kavya and Sidharth flip through their pre-wedding photoshoot pictures, they will relive each and every moment that happened on that day, of course with a smile.

The initial plan was to shoot their pre wedding photoshoot in major landmarks in Chennai. We had a huge list but since its practically impossible to cover the entire list in a single day, we narrowed it down to Mahabalipuram Beach and Temple, Central Railway Station, Local Trains, Napier Bridge and IT expressway in OMR. The locations were selected with some connection to the couple as well.

So we met at around 6am at the Mahabalipuram Temple beach and started the shoot. We wanted to catch the sunrise, but it started to drizzle a bit but soon it stopped and we started the shoot. We started with some casual shots and slowly started to give them some poses for couple portraits.

Thats when that “Sambhavam” happened.

Sambhavam no.1

While shooting low angle on the shore, we had an unexpected huge wave and slightly splashed water on our camera. It was very minor and nothing happened, and i think the couple would have not even noticed it. But, thats just a start for a roller coaster of a day it was going to be.

After taking some shots in the beach, we came to the shore temple with a lot of energy. But we had a surprise. The temple authorities didn’t allow us to enter into the temple for the shoot. We all know that there are many photoshoots happening inside the temple premises every day but the manager was so strict and was totally against us shooting inside the temple. The couple were all dressed up in traditional attire for the photoshoot and looks like that was the major problem for the manager to allow us inside. After several requests, he agreed to allow us but under few conditions. One, Kavya has to remove her jewels and Sidharth has to remove his vesti and wear a pant. Basically, he wanted to ruin the shoot and make the couple look like they are not there for the photoshoot. But since we came all the way, we agreed to his conditions and went ahead with the shoot.

P.S. Ok, after we entered inside, Kavya wore her jewels 🙂

This incident can also be termed as “Tharamaana Sambhavam”.

The 3rd location was to shoot in our local trains and we picked Beach Station, as the train starts there so we will get some time to get some quick shots. We shot in 2 trains and while shooting in the 3rd train, the train started to move and we had to jump out from the train (as we didn’t buy tickets). While doing so, Kavya tripped and fell down. Thank god, there was nothing major that happened and she was on her feet almost immediately.

But the twist here is that, all this while, we were being watched by the railway police in CCTV camera and we were caught and taken to the police booth in the beach station. Police told that we were subject to 3 cases – Not taking ticket inside the station, shooting inside the train and jumping from a running train. After 30-40 mins of apologising, the police left us after seeing our camera and could not find any pictures in it.

P.S – As soon as the police caught us, I switched the memory card and put an empty one inside the camera.

No Sambhavam in Location no – 4

The 4th location was Central Railway Station and the Napier bridge near Marina beach. This time we didn’t take any chance. There were couple of police standing near the bridge so we asked him if we can shoot on the bridge and he approved. So there were no incidents here and we quickly got some long exposure shots on the napier bridge.

The final Location for the day was an overbridge near Ramanujan IT Park on the IT expressway on OMR. Normally, this bridge will be fully lit and looks amazing. Since majority of their employees were working from home, the bridge was pretty dark. But we wanted to place the couple on the bridge and catch the moving traffic below in a long exposure shot with rear curtain sync method.

We placed the couple, set the lights and just took a test shot. Our flash fired and Thats it. In a matter of 5 seconds, there were 4-5 security guards blowing whistles and running from all directions towards us. At this point, all we could do is laugh out loud and decided to come down and take some shots in the service road near the bridge.

Overall, it was an unforgettable day for both the couple and for us. It was definitely a day to be blogged and remembered for a long time to come.
